Job Description

Boston University’s prestigious Culinary Arts Certificate program was founded by Julia Child and Jacques Pepin in 1989 and includes numerous world renowned chefs as guest faculty. The programs offer non-credit certificates in the culinary arts, food, and business; seminars in food and the arts; studies in wine and other beverages; gastronomic tours and children’s programs. The Program also offers a Certificate in the Culinary Arts, food studies, cheese studies, and wine studies that can also be taken for credit and applied towards the MLA in Gastronomy for matriculating Boston University Gastronomy students. The Program also organizes prominent conferences, symposia, and events in the culinary arts and related areas. The Director of Food & Wine Experiential Programs will provide leadership for the  non-credit programs, such as Experiential programs in Food, Wine, Beer and Spirit Studies, Certificate programs in the Culinary Arts and Wine, Beer and Spirits Studies, seminars in the Arts, the Culinary Arts and Wine and Cooking Up Culture. The director will work closely with the Faculty Director of the MLA in Gastronomy to integrate the experiential programs in the Master’s degree.  The director will be responsible for managing the staff, program enrollments and budget and facilities, including a state-of-the-art kitchen. The successful candidate will provide a strong leadership in student outreach and in partnering with external organization in promoting the program locally and nationally.

Required Skills

Master’s Degree in a related field, Doctorate preferred, outstanding leadership, management and communication skills, and preferably five to eight years of directly related experience, with the demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects and manage a team in complex academic environment.
