This fall is shaping up to be a busy one for us here in JMU’s Special Collections. Below is a list of events, including speakers, an Open House,and a gallery talk. We hope to see you there!

    “Shenandoah Religion, Diversity, and American Democracy”

  • October 22nd (Thursday)
    Men of Madison College Panel Discussion

    “The Importance of Vernacular in the Valley: Exploring our Architectural Landscape”

    “Spooky Treasures of Special Collections” Open House
    Display of spooky, scary, or just plain odd treasures from our rare book and manuscript collections

    “Rare Books in Bridgewater College Special Collections”
    Presenter: Ms. Stephanie Gardner, Special Collections Librarian, Bridgewater

  • December 2nd (Wednesday)
    “Capturing the Markers of Religion and Life: Stained Glass Windows and Gravestones in the Valley”
    Presenter: Mr. D. Lee Beard, Photographer and Documentary Film Maker

  • December 9
    “Our Town: The Founding and Future of Harrisonburg” Gallery Talk and Tour
    Presenter: Ms. Ellen Blackmon, Special Collections Public History Graduate Intern
